Peter Afriyie (b. 1994) is a Ghanaian-American documentary photographer with roots in New York City. Growing up in the bustling metropolis instilled in him a deep appreciation for urban life and its endless opportunities for capturing life's fleeting moments. After years of pursuing photography as a hobby, he found himself drawn to the events of 2020 and the opportunity to use his lens as a tool for advocacy.

This led Peter to attend graduate school for photojournalism at The Corcoran School of Arts and Design at George Washington University. During his time there, he honed his skills in multiple media and expanded his understanding of how he could use his work to make a difference in the world. In 2022, he interned at The Hill newspaper, covering Congress and politics from the Capitol, White House and in the D.C. area.

In October 2023, Peter joined The Associated Press as a photographer based in the New York Bureau, where he reports on feature, breaking news, and sports stories through photography within the New York metropolitan area. Peter also collaborates on multimedia storytelling projects, continuously developing both field photography and photo editing skills under professional mentorship.

As a photographer, Peter's work encompasses a diverse range of genres, from street photography to documentary, portraiture, film stills, and fine art. He has a keen eye for capturing the beauty of the everyday and for telling powerful stories through his images. Peter is also an avid cyclist, and often incorporates his love for cycling into his work.

Peter's passion for photography is matched by his commitment to social justice and to using his work to inspire positive change in the world. His unique perspective and dedication to his craft ensures his work will be a powerful voice for years to come.
